Iridium publicly described the transition from an extended EMSS agreement to a new seven-year Department of Defense satellite-services contract in 2019.
The record
Via Satellite reported in October 2018 that a $44 million DISA modification extended Iridium’s Enhanced Mobile Satellite Services agreement through April 21, 2019. In February 2019, Iridium described EMSS as one of two U.S. government agreements moving from DISA management to Air Force Space Command.
In September 2019, Iridium announced a seven-year fixed-price Department of Defense contract through Air Force Space Command for unlimited voice, broadcast, netted, and selected data satellite services for approved subscribers.
