USACE Sacramento documented the Isabella Dam Safety Modification Project’s flood-risk work and a 2023 temporary-pump installation.
The record
USACE Sacramento described the Isabella Dam Safety Modification Project as addressing overtopping, seismic, and seepage issues at the main and auxiliary dams and spillways. Its 2022 project account described 16-foot raises to both dams, auxiliary-dam reinforcement, and a new emergency spillway and labyrinth weir.
In October 2023, USACE reported that it had installed a temporary pump system to increase capacity and redirect seepage back into Lake Isabella. The agency said the project had achieved substantial completion in 2022.
