USACE Sacramento describes the Folsom Dam Auxiliary Spillway as an approximately $900 million cooperative project with the Bureau of Reclamation. The agency says it was completed in 2017 and helps the Sacramento region achieve a 200-year flood-protection level.
The project added an auxiliary spillway with an approach channel, control structure, spillway chute, and stilling basin to release water earlier and more safely during high-water events.
